The Thames Estuary Partnership's Fisheries Action Group (FAG) brings together statutory authorities, water companies, local authorities, researchers and local fishermen to discuss fisheries issues of concern to the Thames Estuary. The FAG was established in January 2001.
Next Fisheries Action Group Meeting:
Winter 2011/2012 unless required sooner.
What does the FAG aim to achieve?
Amongst the objectives of the FAG are the following:
- to ensure that the high quality fisheries resource now associated with the Thames estuary is protected and enhanced;
- work towards the greater protection of fisheries threatened by chemical, bacterial and viral contamination, by continuing to improve water quality;
- to encourage collaboration and co-operation, facilitating the resolution of potential conflicts and offering opportunities for value-added solutions;
- to agree common research needs and methodologies, and encourage, where possible, the sharing of relevant data.
